Join us and ride this Italian Granfondo which takes place on some of the roads of Italy’s oldest classic race, the Milan – Torino. The race was first held in 1876 and has been interrupted several times but is one of the oldest in the world of professional cycling. Among its winners is Alberto Contador who won here his first single day race as a professional rider for Team Saxo Bank in 2012.

You get the chance to choose one of three courses on offer. The Granfondo of 156km with an elevation gain of 2,415 metres. The Medio fondo of 138 km and 2,118 metres of elevation or the corto with 107 km of riding and 1,857 metres of elevation gain. All three start with a challenging climb of Colle della Madallena that will split the group from the go. Care must be taken at this point as you will be riding with other hundred or so cyclists eager to get to the top and start with the first descent of the day.

The partenza (as Italians would say) or start is in the centre of this beautiful city which is hosting for this first time ever this year’s Giro final stage unlike the more traditional finish at Milan. Turin was Italy’s first capital and is currently its most important car making hub with the head quarters of Alfa Romeo, Lancia and FIAT based here. The city is one of the most visited in Italy due to its architecture, location close to the Alps, selection of museums and galleries and its importance as centre of power is exemplified for being the home of the House of Savoy, Italy’s royal family.
